Kentucky First to 2,000
The University of Kentucky Wildcats became the first NCAA basketball team to win 2,000 games with their 88-44 win over Drexel Monday night. John Wall scored 16 with 7 assists and Patrick Patterson and DeMarcus Cousins each donated 18 points with Cousins adding 13 rebounds.
Coach Cal commented after the game, "We weren't a part of many of those 2,000 wins and we had a job to do and that was drag us across the line before that other blue team got there, this is a special moment for this program and this state." That other team, UNC, is 8 behind at 1992 victories. Kansas is third at 1970, and the school that breeds blue pedophiles is 4th with 1876 wins.
We all knew the Wildcats would get to 2,000 this year, what is surprising is that they got there in 12 games after starting the season with 1988 wins. Kentucky is exceeding many peoples expectations early this year for what is a young team. If they are looking this dominating at this point in the year, I think it's safe to say that the Wildcats are hoping to make some serious noise come March.
Kentucky looks to improve it's record to 13-0 Wednesday against Long Beach State.
Congratulations to Kentucky and its fans!
